The story (and research) behind this app
When studying at Duke University, one of our founders started experiencing symptoms of depression. As an alternative to medication, a counsellor told her about some incredible research the university had recently done.
Dr. Bryan Sexton, associate professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Duke’s School of Medicine, found that simply listing three good things each day in a particular way increased happiness more effectively than Prozac! Participants were asked to:
List 3 good things that happened every day
Emphasizing their active role in the events (e.g. "I saw a pretty sunset today" rather than just writing "There was a pretty sunset").
Describe the positive emotion
Participants were asked to write how the Good Thing made them feel, and what was their role in it.
Results from this simple exercise
1. Increased feeling of well-being. 2. Improved sleep quality—when done within 2 hours of bedtime. 3. Greater mental resilience.

Terrific app
Had tried some other gratitude apps but like this the best. Straightforward yet reflective. Provides a daily reflection which I find uniformly quite good and also assists you to print a summary PDF of your daily writings.

Great easy app to get you in a better mindset
Gratitude I know is key to a positive mind and distressing from the day. This app make it easy to recall 3 positive things to be grateful about from your day. You can do it at night to review the day or the next morning to review the previous. Either way it helps

Achievable and guilt-free gratitude goals
I’d tried to keep a gratitude journal before, but it was always intimidating to try and think of everything I was grateful for. The 3 good things app not only made that goal of being grateful every day a lot more bite-sized, but it also incorporated the idea of thinking of how those good things make me feel. When I write my entry before going to bed, I am reminded of the good things that happened and bring back those feelings too. It’s okay if I miss a day, and it doesn’t send me guilt-trip reminders when I forget.
